We spent our first full day in Dublin orienting ourselves to the city on the Hop On Hop Off bus tour.
Several scenes from Phoenix Park, Europe's largest city park, and twice the size of NY's Central Park.
Below is the Aras an Uachtarain - the home of the the Irish President. If you look closely you will see a candle burning in the top left window behind the columns - always left on to guide the Irish Diaspora home. The only other residence in the park is the home of the U.S. Ambassador.
The Wellington Monument - second tallest free standing obelisk just behind the Washington Monument.
The Guiness brewery, founded in 1759, takes up an impressive amount of real estate. More to follow on this when we tour the most popular visit in town according to Lonely Planet (LP).
Collins Barracks, now home to the National Museum of Decoratove Arts. Below the barracks is the site of a mass grave for revolutionaries killed during one of the periodic 'risings' against the British in the 1800's.
Below is the home of the Dublin City Council.
Trinity college above and Oscar Wilde (Dublin native) statue below.
